The Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Bundu of Port Loko has said in Freetown that no President will rule Sierra Leone beyond the two terms mandate as enshrined in the 1991 Constitution.
The APC senior Parliamentary leader maintained that, President Ernest Bai Koroma has said times without number that the current term is his “last and final term” and will never violate the constitution by seeking for a fresh mandate. He said, during a stakeholders’ meeting at State House recently, President Koroma made it categorically clear that he will not go for a third term like what some people would want him to do. “Last week whilst shaking hands with people at State House during the Award ceremony, some people were telling him “After U Na U” but the President was seen shaking his head in the form of denial and later said no, no, no loudly,” Hon. Bundu said.
The Majority Leader further noted that, besides President Koroma there are many other competent APC Politicians to lead this country. He said it is a matter of time to tell whether or not he (Hon Bundu) himself will contest for the flagbearership of the APC and promised that his party will intervene to reconcile the different factions of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). “So that the SLPP will remain permanently in the opposition,” he said jokingly.
Hon. Bundu said they will ensure that in the forthcoming election, the APC wins and continue to govern for the third term (not President Koroma)
